Alexander Isak has been the subject of a harsh critique by Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ally McCoist after it was revealed that the striker is refusing to play for Newcastle United again.

The uncertain future of the Swedish player has been one of the main talking points in the summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, Liverpool had a bid of £120million, including add-ons, turned down for the 25-year-old, who has made his desire to join the Premier League champions clear, although they've yet to make a second offer.

However, with Newcastle failing to secure the signatures of Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, who instead joined Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, Isak has remained on Tyneside.

This follows a season where he netted a career-best 23 league goals, leading them to their first trophy in 70 years - the EFL Cup.

The report also suggested that the striker, who has been training alone since the squad's pre-season return, has no intention of rejoining the team, even if the club decide not to sell him this summer.

It has since been reported by The Times that Isak has also moved out of his Newcastle home, with the property now back on the rental market, reports the Mirror.

The latest chapter in the transfer saga surrounding the Sweden international has seen him slammed by talkSPORT pair McCoist and Agbonlahor, who delivered a scathing verdict on Isak's conduct.

After reading out the report which suggests Isak has featured for the final time in a Magpies shirt, Agbonlahor fumed: "Who does he think he is?

Disgusting, what that club has done for you." McCoist weighed in and questioned: "If you're Liverpool, is that the kind of person you want to be signing?"

The Aston Villa legend then showed support for Newcastle supporters and suggested that Isak would treat Liverpool in identical fashion should a potential switch to Real Madrid materialise down the line.

"Real Madrid want him in two years when he's 27, he'll do the same to you," Agbonlahor declared.

"The fact that Newcastle missed out on Sesko have got every right to say, 'Listen, you're going nowhere, we've lost Callum Wilson, we can't get Wissa over the line yet.'

"I'm not a Newcastle fan but I'm fuming for them.

I get it, you want to go and explore and go for a bigger club but if it doesn't suit the club, shut up.

"Get your boots on, big season for Newcastle [who] want to start the season well [at] Villa away, and now you're adamant you don't want to play?"

As Newcastle United prepare to face Aston Villa in their Premier League opener on Saturday, it's unlikely that Isak will feature, with Liverpool still reportedly keen on the forward.
